My film reel is meant to portray teen life, adventure, and a little bit of conflict. I feel that this reel mainly showcases cinematography, and editing, and lighting. I used beat sink on some of the shots but not all so it didn't become predictable and boring. I also had some actions happen to the beat of the song. When ending my film reel I chose a really bright outside shot full of warm colors, I chose to do so because it ends the reel on a positive note. I also only choose shots that were really cinematic to include in my film reel. Thats probably why my reel was shorter than a minute, but I plan to add a lot more work after the completion of my music video. I used three works in this film reel: Perfect Putty,  Levis Commercial, and Wimp. For the most part transitions between these pieces worked pretty well, but there are a few jarring cuts because of drastic lighting changes. The Kids Turned out Fine - A$AP Rocky This music video is a collage of teenagers and children messing around having fun, maybe having a little too much fun shown by drug use and law enforcement involvment. These events are seamlessly sewn together by flowing transitions and over the top editing. The line "The kids turned out fine" is repeated throughout most of the music video and is almost ironic but also comforting. There isn't much of story to this video as it is mostly disconnected events but there is a very powerful theme of kids naturally wanting to rebel and have fun. A$AP Rocky always makes sure to have a super diverse group of people for his music videos. An abundance of different cultures, races, and sexuality's are shown in this video and it really suits the theme. One of my favorite elements of this music video is the editing. Pre-Production  For our script we chose wimp by Miles Todd. It is about a scrawny underdog who stands up to the school bully by arm wrestling him. This was a very comedic and cheesy script. We started off by finalizing the script. After that we made our storyboards, prop list and discussed all the shots we wanted to use. We then began looking for locations to film at. Unfortunately none of the schools we asked would let us film so we had to film at ONW.  We then found actors and coordinated with them to make a film schedule. Production  This part of the process did not go as smooth as we would have liked. After a couple days of filming we realized that our current script had to many actors and was too complicated. To fix this we all got together rewrote our script and essentially did the Pre-Production process again. After dong this the rest of filming went much better and we were able to finish on time. What Did I Do Camera assignment 1 This was our first project of the year for entertainment video. We had to make a 2-3 minute video utilizing the 6 shot system. This included Extreme-Closeup, Closeup, Medium, Wide , Extreme Wide, Over the Shoulder, and Point of View Shot. At first it was a bit tricky trying to find a way to incorporate all these shots but eventually we worked them all in. It took us about two weeks to finish or film from pre production to post production. One of our biggest criticisms was our audio. Audio is extremely important and you have to make sure its balanced and mixed correctly otherwise it can ruin a film. This project taught me a lot about shot variety and how it can add to a film, because before this year we were mainly just using wide and medium shots. Music Video Our task was to and a song we enjoyed and then recreate the music video. This project took about a month including pre production. the biggest challenge we faced was probably the weather because it was either snowing or raining, but we still were able to find a time to film. the most important thing I learned during this project was probably how to lay out a beat sheet, and how to work with a group on a large and lengthy project. Most feedback we got was about our lighting because it was very cloudy. We could have avoided this by fine tuning our cameras settings. Favorite Protects  My favorite graphics project we did this semester was probably logo design. for this assignment we were tasked with creating five different logos in several different color combinations. This project took about two and a half weeks counting sketching our logos. One challenge I faced was when using the pen tool it created a lot of jagged edges that needed a lot of fine tuning. Some skills I gained from this project are color coordination and overall improvement with the pen tool. My table partner Connor gave me a lot of feedback on this project relating to small details. My final logos look pretty different from my original sketches because when I started using illustrator I realized some of my sketches weren't viable. Pre-Production For our trailer, we chose to do Napoleon Dynamite because we could film most of it in school. We started by dissecting the trailer and taking note of all the shots used. We then made a list of all the props we need to come up with. We also made a list of possible actors we could use. After figuring out who and what we would use for filming we scheduled days to film, this was a little difficult because most of us were busy on days we wanted to film. Production  We ended up filming the majority of our scenes in school during class. I ended up purchasing props such as the wig and glasses. We chose Ethan to be Napoleon Dynamite because he was easily accessible and he is tall and lanky just like Napoleon.
