Pop Art



Process 
The first thing I did to the image of my partner was cut him out and remove the background. This way I could put a bright gradient in the background. Then I put a filter on my partner to make him look like he was composed of small dots to give it that retro pop art feel.  I also used paint splatters in the background which gave it another pop of color. that I made four copies of my partner, made color adjustment layers for them, and gave them each a different tint of color. I tried to use several bright colors in my image to replicate the contrasting colors pop artist would use.

Inspiration
I got most of my inspiration for Warhol because he often drew the same image multiple times in different colors just like how I made copies of my image in different colors. I also got some inspiration for Liechtenstein because I made my partner look like he was made of small dots to give the image an almost comic book like feel.

2020 Film Reel

My film reel is meant to portray teen life, adventure, and a little bit of conflict. I feel that this reel mainly showcases cinematography, and editing, and lighting. I used beat sink on some of the shots but not all so it didn't become predictable and boring. I also had some actions happen to the beat of the song. When ending my film reel I chose a really bright outside shot full of warm colors, I chose to do so because it ends the reel on a positive note. I also only choose shots that were really cinematic to include in my film reel. Thats probably why my reel was shorter than a minute, but I plan to add a lot more work after the completion of my music video. I used three works in this film reel: Perfect Putty,  Levis Commercial, and Wimp. For the most part transitions between these pieces worked pretty well, but there are a few jarring cuts because of drastic lighting changes. Film Reel Blog

 For my film reel I tried to portray a teen lifestyle. It shows several teenagers in moments when they are thriving and when they are at a low. I really like this because it makes the reel more relatable to my fellow classmates. I also wanted it to really flow naturally to make it easy to watch so I didn't have any headers for my film clips and just let the shots speak for themselves. I also tried to edit my shots in a way that the movement flowed through each to make it feel even more smooth and collected.   I also tried to really showcase cinematography and good lighting in this reel. I used some of my best colored and lit shots from lowlight and daylight to show the variety I am capable of. I chose my most cinematically composed shots that show purposeful spacing and positioning of the subjects.
