Quarter Reflection

4th Quarter Project

For our end of the year project we had to create a product and a company. To go along with this we also had to make a website, commercial,
logo, animations, and advertisements. for our product we chose the Warp Watch, a watch that also you to travel through time to fix your mistakes. I learned a lot of stuff along the way such as imbedding logos into SketchUp, and how to change the CSS designs in dreamweaver. some feedback that we got was that our website was to bland, to fix that we went back and aded more shades of blue to the webpage. My opinion of my work work in quarter four is that I did a pretty good job of collaborating with my group, and coming up with ideas that we all liked. I also think this project has improved my time management and collaboration skills.

How Did I Use My Time

Some of the activities I completed during my class time were the banner, the 3d design, and the scripts for our presentation. At times that i finished early I asked my team way that I could improve the project or make it better in anyway. We all critiqued our project as a group to find weak spots and improve. Outside of class I would finish up blogs, or touch up assignments to make sure I would never have any late work.

Strengths and Weaknesses

Some of my strengths are graphic design and video editing. To maximize our strengths we assigned certain parts of the project to each other based on our skill levels. Some ares I need to improve in would be animation and web design.

Summary

What enjoyed most about this quarter was getting to collaborate with my team, and having the freedom to come up with our own product and have it be whatever we want. I learned a lot this quarter but mostly I learned how to be a good team member and collaborate with group members. A goal I would like to set for next year is to get better at animation and web design. Overall I thought this was a very good project to improve collaboration skills and great way to wrap up e9.

Music Video

The Kids Turned out Fine - A$AP Rocky This music video is a collage of teenagers and children messing around having fun, maybe having a little too much fun shown by drug use and law enforcement involvment. These events are seamlessly sewn together by flowing transitions and over the top editing. The line "The kids turned out fine" is repeated throughout most of the music video and is almost ironic but also comforting. There isn't much of story to this video as it is mostly disconnected events but there is a very powerful theme of kids naturally wanting to rebel and have fun. A$AP Rocky always makes sure to have a super diverse group of people for his music videos. An abundance of different cultures, races, and sexuality's are shown in this video and it really suits the theme. One of my favorite elements of this music video is the editing. Each shot pans into the next shot with over the top editing and transitions, it makes the disconnected events feel connected and...

Vans Commercial

Production  Our commercial was for Vans, the concept that we wanted to get across was that vans are a great durable shoe that bring people together.  Our pre production went really smoothly and we got our script and storyboards all done. Production also went extremely well. It was a little interesting to film at a skate park, we had to make sure not to get in anyones way but overall it was really fun. Post production could have gone better though. Our video was turned in late and it didn't meet the 30 second requirement. That is definitely something to improve on. I think we did a pretty good job on all the five guarantees except communication and project management. I would like to see things turned in on time for my next project, and to have better communication between editor and cinematographer.  Role   For this commercial I took on the production role of cinematographer. This was one of my goals I set last year: I wanted get more familiar with the cam...

Film Reel Blog

For my film reel I tried to portray a teen lifestyle. It shows several teenagers in moments when they are thriving and when they are at a low. I really like this because it makes the reel more relatable to my fellow classmates. I also wanted it to really flow naturally to make it easy to watch so I didn't have any headers for my film clips and just let the shots speak for themselves. I also tried to edit my shots in a way that the movement flowed through each to make it feel even more smooth and collected.   I also tried to really showcase cinematography and good lighting in this reel. I used some of my best colored and lit shots from lowlight and daylight to show the variety I am capable of. I chose my most cinematically composed shots that show purposeful spacing and positioning of the subjects. I had my friend Cade Wait compose my music so it would fit perfectly with my reel and add some extra suspense. I was very picky with the shots I used so unfortunately my reel was a ...
