Graphics Final

Favorite Protects

My favorite graphics project we did this semester was probably logo design. for this assignment we were tasked with creating five different logos in several different color combinations. This project took about two and a half weeks counting sketching our logos. One challenge I faced was when using the pen tool it created a lot of jagged edges that needed a lot of fine tuning. Some skills I gained from this project are color coordination and overall improvement with the pen tool. My table partner Connor gave me a lot of feedback on this project relating to small details. My final logos look pretty different from my original sketches because when I started using illustrator I realized some of my sketches weren't viable. Overall I really enjoyed this project because I actually may be able to use some of my logos in the feature.

Another project I really liked was getting to create a infographic. In tis project we had to create an infographic about anything we wanted using our own original graphics. This project took about a month starting in the first quarter and ending in the second. One big challenge I faced was creating all thirteen graphics in a limited amount of time, but I was able to manage my time and stay on task in order to get it done. I learned a lot about the pen tool and tracing from this project. Mrs Beaudoin gave me a lot of feedback on the formatting for my infographic which helped a lot. I changed how my infographic was going to be set up because as I created my graphics I realized my original design wasn't going to work as well as I thought. Overall I am really proud of the final product but I wish I could go back and change some small details.

The event adverting project is also one of my favorite things we did this semester. For this assignment I created a concert poster, post card, and a ticket. This took about three weeks to complete. One big challenge I faced was transferring all of my photoshop work back into illustrator. I learned that it is just easier to do all of your work in program instead of having to transfer it back and forth. My classmates gave me a lot of feedback on detail oriented things. My ideas kept changing on how I wanted it all to look throughout the project but I eventually settled on a design. In the end I thought my poster turned out ok but I still think it could be a lot better.

Time Management

I rarely had extra time in this class but when I did I used it to update my behance profile and move files to the sever. I would sometimes look up photoshop tutorials if I had time in order to improve my skills. I usually was very harsh on my own work and used any extra time to go back and fix little things that bothered me. If I was confused about something i would use my out of class time to research what was giving me a hard time and how to fix it.

Strengths

One of my biggest strengths in Ecomm is collaboration. I get along with all of my classmates and am able to work efficiently with others in order to get work done. I would also consider time and project management one of my strengths because I was able to get all of my work done on time and had zero late assignments this semester.

Areas Of Improvement

I think my technical skills could use some improving. I would like to learn more about the tools and software we are using such as illustrator and photoshop. I could do this by watching tutorials in my free time or doing independent projects. I would also like to take on more leadership roles in Ecomm next year in order to improve my Leadership skills.

Conclusion

My favorite part about graphic design this semester was the amount of creative freedom we were given. I honesty change anything about my experience in the class I thought it was taught very well. One goal I would like to set for next year is again to take on more leadership intensive roles. Overall I had a really fun time in graphic design this semester and feel like I leaned a lot. Even though I am taking entertainment next year this class definitely sparked my interest in graphic design.

Music Video

The Kids Turned out Fine - A$AP Rocky This music video is a collage of teenagers and children messing around having fun, maybe having a little too much fun shown by drug use and law enforcement involvment. These events are seamlessly sewn together by flowing transitions and over the top editing. The line "The kids turned out fine" is repeated throughout most of the music video and is almost ironic but also comforting. There isn't much of story to this video as it is mostly disconnected events but there is a very powerful theme of kids naturally wanting to rebel and have fun. A$AP Rocky always makes sure to have a super diverse group of people for his music videos. An abundance of different cultures, races, and sexuality's are shown in this video and it really suits the theme. One of my favorite elements of this music video is the editing. Each shot pans into the next shot with over the top editing and transitions, it makes the disconnected events feel connected and...

Vans Commercial

Production  Our commercial was for Vans, the concept that we wanted to get across was that vans are a great durable shoe that bring people together.  Our pre production went really smoothly and we got our script and storyboards all done. Production also went extremely well. It was a little interesting to film at a skate park, we had to make sure not to get in anyones way but overall it was really fun. Post production could have gone better though. Our video was turned in late and it didn't meet the 30 second requirement. That is definitely something to improve on. I think we did a pretty good job on all the five guarantees except communication and project management. I would like to see things turned in on time for my next project, and to have better communication between editor and cinematographer.  Role   For this commercial I took on the production role of cinematographer. This was one of my goals I set last year: I wanted get more familiar with the cam...

Film Reel Blog

For my film reel I tried to portray a teen lifestyle. It shows several teenagers in moments when they are thriving and when they are at a low. I really like this because it makes the reel more relatable to my fellow classmates. I also wanted it to really flow naturally to make it easy to watch so I didn't have any headers for my film clips and just let the shots speak for themselves. I also tried to edit my shots in a way that the movement flowed through each to make it feel even more smooth and collected.   I also tried to really showcase cinematography and good lighting in this reel. I used some of my best colored and lit shots from lowlight and daylight to show the variety I am capable of. I chose my most cinematically composed shots that show purposeful spacing and positioning of the subjects. I had my friend Cade Wait compose my music so it would fit perfectly with my reel and add some extra suspense. I was very picky with the shots I used so unfortunately my reel was a ...
