Video Final

Music Video Our task was to and a song we enjoyed and then recreate the music video. This project took about a month including pre production. the biggest challenge we faced was probably the weather because it was either snowing or raining, but we still were able to find a time to film. the most important thing I learned during this project was probably how to lay out a beat sheet, and how to work with a group on a large and lengthy project. Most feedback we got was about our lighting because it was very cloudy. We could have avoided this by fine tuning our cameras settings. One thing we changed was that we removed a verse fro the original music video because it was too lengthy and unnecessary. Overall i thought this project went very well and there was a lot of good communication with group. Short Film  We had to right a script for a short film then actually produce this film. it took about a month and a half start to finish. One of the biggest challenges was probably findi...

Graphics Final

Favorite Protects  My favorite graphics project we did this semester was probably logo design. for this assignment we were tasked with creating five different logos in several different color combinations. This project took about two and a half weeks counting sketching our logos. One challenge I faced was when using the pen tool it created a lot of jagged edges that needed a lot of fine tuning. Some skills I gained from this project are color coordination and overall improvement with the pen tool. My table partner Connor gave me a lot of feedback on this project relating to small details. My final logos look pretty different from my original sketches because when I started using illustrator I realized some of my sketches weren't viable. Overall I really enjoyed this project because I actually may be able to use some of my logos in the feature. Another project I really liked was getting to create a infographic. In tis project we had to create an infographic about anything we w...

Video Trailer

Pre-Production For our trailer, we chose to do Napoleon Dynamite because we could film most of it in school. We started by dissecting the trailer and taking note of all the shots used. We then made a list of all the props we need to come up with. We also made a list of possible actors we could use. After figuring out who and what we would use for filming we scheduled days to film, this was a little difficult because most of us were busy on days we wanted to film. Production  We ended up filming the majority of our scenes in school during class. I ended up purchasing props such as the wig and glasses. We chose Ethan to be Napoleon Dynamite because he was easily accessible and he is tall and lanky just like Napoleon. Some of the scenes we had to film after school so we rented out a camera and got together. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to film after school because of an orthodontist appointment. Post-Production  After we finished filming we started the editing process. ...

Vector Portrait

Pre-Production I started by selecting a picture to use for my portrait. I selected a close up of my face because it was the only viable photo I had of myself. I choses to do the low poly portrait because I really liked how it looked.I then made two art boards, one for reference, and one to to make my vector portrait on. I also turned the grid on and made sure the pen strokes snapped to it so I could start to make the triangles. Production Making the triangles wasn't hard at all it was just very time consuming and tedious. Same with filling them it just took time. I learned that you need to have all of your layers organized or it quickly becomes a mess. I chose a greenish blue color for my background because it went good with the colors used in my portrait. Post-Production    Overall I was really pleased with the outcome of my vector portrait. I do wish I could find a way to make my eyes look more natural though. If I ever do this project again in the future I would ...

Music Video

What Song and Why We choose to do Why do You Feel So Down by Declan Mckenna. We chose this song because everyone liked it, and it had pretty straight forward format to follow. The theme we wanted to portray was a retro exercise video. Production    We started by completing the beat sheet for our video to get the shots straight. We then planned out dates to film, these date got changed quite often because of the weather. We chose to film at union station because of the backdrop of Kansas City. We then moved onto editing after we finished filming. We had to create a bunch of different transitions for our video, we also had to mess with the saturation levels to make the video look like the original. Overall this process went very smoothly even though the weather got in our way.  My Roll     I did a lot of the pre production such as the beat sheet and figuring out what type of shots we would use. I also filmed the video and did some of the...

Typography

Pre-Production For my project I was looking for light hearted quotes that weren't to serious. I then chose fonts to go with the most important words it the quotes to add more meaning to the words. I chose simplistic and clean fonts for the more neutral words and statements. Production One of the things I learned from this project was how to distort and manipulate fonts. I also had to create outlines for the text in order to fine tune it and make it visible for others to view without downloading the font. I preferred working in black and white because I liked the simplistic look and it mad everything seem really balanced. Post Production  Overall Im pretty impressed with the outcome. My favorite quote I did was  "Imagination is more important than knowledge'' - Albert Einstein, I really like the colors and the rocket graphic I mad. I do think some of the quotes would have looked better if they were just left in black and white.

Video Final

Overview  This semester we focused on convergence media. It was really interesting to see how it all works and to create convergence pieces of our own. Here is some of my work from this semester. Advanced Feature Story For this project, we had to make a feature news piece that was timely and relevant to ONW. My group chose to do our video about finals. We interviewed three students and asked them their opinions on finals. This project took about two weeks to complete. One of the challenges we faced was to adjust all the audio clips so they weren't too loud or too quiet. One of the most important things we learned is that the use of nat noise can make a huge difference in a feature news piece. Some of the feedback we got was the lack of transitions, so we went back and added video, and audio transitions to make the video seem smoother. Overall I was really impressed with the outcome of this project and thought me and my group did a really good job.    ...
